Cops: Arrest made in shooting death of teen cancer patient

DUNCANVILLE, Texas -- Police said Tuesday an arrest was made in the shooting death of teen cancer patient Ryan Lara, reports CBS DFW.

A tip reportedly led police to Tyler Geraud Wiley, 19. Police also say Wiley allegedly confessed not only to Lara's death, but also two aggravated robberies in the Dallas area within a few days of the shooting.

Wiley has been charged with capital murder and is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

"Sometimes families have to wait a very long time to seek answers and justice. We've been blessed in that way, in that it happened fast," Richard Lara, Ryan's oldest brother, told CBS DFW.

Police had believed that on Nov. 8, Lara, 15, was shot during an attempted robbery. He had reportedly been moving his family's car.

A cross now marks the spot where the victim died. He was reportedly weeks away from starting treatment for Lymphoma cancer, reports CBS DFW.

Police are still looking into the possibility of two or three other suspects, as well as the vehicle used in the shooting -- a silver, 4-door 2000 model Acura TL .
