(CBS News) Britain's Prince Harry will make an official visit to the United States in May, according to an announcement detailing the six-day trip from Clarence House on Monday morning. The prince will be in the U.S. from May 9 through May 15 on behalf of several charities and the British government.
His visit will primarily focus on injured servicemen and women and he is scheduled to attend a landmine clearance exhibition on Capitol Hill before spending time at Arlington National Cemetery and Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland.
Prince Harry on royalty: Not a fairy tale
The 28-year-old royal is also scheduled to attend the Warrior Games, for wounded veterans, in Colorado Springs and visit New York City for an event promoting community-based youth athletics. Harry will wrap up his trip with a visit to New Jersey towns ravaged by Hurricane Sandy and a stop in Greenwich, Connecticut, to take part in a polo match.
Harry's last visit to the U.S. was in May 2012, when he attended a reception at the British Ambassador's residence in Washington, D.C. Several months after that visit, The royal family confirmed they were indeed pictures of Harry.alongside a female companion surfaced, reportedly taken inside the prince's VIP suite at Las Vegas hotel after a game of "strip-pool."
