Police: Wife survives fire set at home by husband
ODESSA, Texas - A West Texas man has been charged with arson after being accused of setting fire to a home where his wife was inside.
The Odessa American reports the woman, who was not identified, suffered non-life threatening burn injuries in the Saturday blaze.
Odessa police spokesman Cpl. Steve LeSueur said officers detained the woman's husband, 61-year old Mark Wright, not far from the home.
Authorities were still trying to determine a motive for the fire.
Neighbor Liz Gonzales said after her children alerted her to the blaze, she saw Wright "walking off down the street, away from the house."
Gonzales said she helped smother flames on the arm of the woman's dress after debris from a carport fell on her.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Wright.
