(CBS) CHICAGO - Police gave the all-clear to open two schools in Addison, Ill., that had been placed on lockdown Friday morning after reports of a possible intruder in one of the schools, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The intruder was reported at Indian Trail Junior High School on Kennedy Drive, reports CBS Station WBBM. Nearby Army Trail Elementary School also instituted a lockdown.

Superintendent John Langton posted a message on the Addision Elementary School District 4 website at 1:30 pm announcing that the lockdown had been lifted.

"The police conducted a thorough and complete search of both buildings, and fortunately did not find any suspicious individuals," the statement said. "The police are continuing to interview possible witnesses to complete their investigation. The decision has been made to lift the lock down and return to normal activities. Our students are eating lunch and will continue with abbreviated afternoon classes. Students will be dismissed at regular dismissal times."
