Nebraska man allegedly assaults wife with sandwich

Larry Spurling, of Melbeta KMTV Omaha

(CBS/AP) Scottsbluff, Neb. - Larry Spurling, a 50-year-old western Nebraska man, has been accused of assaulting his wife with a sandwich, KMTV Omaha reports.

Spurling has been charged with disturbing the peace after his wife called 911 late Sunday and reported that her husband pushed her down during an argument and rubbed a sandwich in her face, the arrest affidavit reports.

The Scottsbluff Star-Herald says that while court documents do not detail the exact ingredients of the sandwich, a deputy found several pieces of lunch meat on the carpet outside of a bedroom and some pieces of bread in the bedroom.

Spurling appeared in Scotts Bluff County court on Monday and remains in jail. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
