(CBS/AP) Mitch Mustain, former second string quarterback for the University of Southern California, was arrested on suspicion of selling prescription drugs in the San Fernando Valley, police said Wednesday.

Mustain, 22, was arrested by West Valley narcotics officers just after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and booked on $30,000 bail, Officer Bruce Borihanh said.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Mustain was released on bail. Borihanh said he could not confirm that information and a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website still listed Mustain as being in custody late Wednesday morning.

Mustain, who completed his senior year for the Trojans in 2010 after transferring from Arkansas in 2007, could not be reached for comment through USC's athletic department.

He started in last November's loss against Notre Dame when starting quarterback, Matt Barkley, was injured and passed for 177 yards. It was Mustain's first start since his freshman season at Arkansas, where he went 8-0.

Mustain is currently preparing for the NFL draft.
