London mayor to give William and Kate a tandem bike

Mayor of London Boris Johnson cycles his bike over Westminster Bridge in central London on July 30, 2010. London launched a major cycle hire scheme Friday which aims to make transport in the city greener ahead of the 2012 Olympics, following in the tracks of cities like Paris and Shanghai. Johnson, a keen cyclist, said the scheme was a 'new dawn' for pedal power in London, adding he hoped the bikes would become as common a sight on its streets as black cabs and red doubledecker buses. The bikes in the cycle hire scheme are called "Boris bikes" for London's mayor.

"I look forward to seeing the newlyweds on tandem wheels as they start their new life in Anglesey," Johnson said.
