There were cheese recipes, maps of cheesemaker facilities, even a cheese personality profile. Thrill seeker? Try the Pepper Jack! More of a homebody? Havarti is where the heart is.
The site is sponsored by Dairy Management, an offshoot of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. As The New York Times reported, that's the same organization that recently partnered with Domino's pizza...to add extra cheese to the pies and improve the taste.
But the thing is, that extra cheese also adds heaping helpings of saturated fat and calories...at a time when the government is trying to combat childhood obesity.
It's one thing to support dairy farmers...but launching a $12 million dollar ad campaign to sell pizzas? That undermines the much more important goal of keeping our kids healthy.
When it comes to marketing fast food...here's one piece of advice...the cheese should stand alone.
