HOPEWELL, Va. (CBS/WTVR) Police say that the body found floating in the James River late Tuesday near the Hopewell Marina is not missing Virginia Commonwealth University exchange student Jonny Dorey.
Sgt. Michael Walls confirmed with CBS affiliate WTVR that the body was, despite initial speculation, that of a 77-year-old man.
The remains were caught up in a boat slip and were noticed by a passerby at 7:53 p.m.
Dorey was last seen on the VCU campus March 2. His belongings were found on the banks of the James River near Dock Street weeks later.
There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to Jonny Dorey.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to Contact VCU Police Communications at 804-828-1196.
