Jennifer Lawrence: First image from "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

Jennifer Lawrence is looking very blue in her latest role.

Director Bryan Singer delighted fanboys around the world on Monday by releasing an image of the 24-year-old "Silver Linings Playbook"Oscar-winner donning her Mystique costume for the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Singer posted the image of Lawrence on his Twitter account:

The shapeshifter Mystique was originally played by Rebecca Romijn in the first "X-Men" trilogy before Lawrence took over the role for 2010's "X-Men: First Class."

It took close to six hours to get Lawrence into the blue-tinged costume and make-up for "First Class." We hope for her sake that the filmmakers have found a way to streamline the process for this shoot.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will serve as a mash-up sequel combining actors and characters from the first "X-Men" trilogywith those from "First Class."

Now shooting in Montreal, the film hits theaters July 18, 2014.
