(CBS) HOUSTON - A Houston man came home Wednesday morning to find three juvenile burglars in his house and decided to take matters into his own hands, holding the trio at gunpoint with a rifle that was, in fact, not loaded, CBS affiliate KHOU reports.
When Randy Magdaleno entered his home around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, he heard voices, became alarmed and immediately grabbed his unloaded rifle.
"It was scary, I didn't know what I was walking into and hearing people running around inside my house at the same time. I didn't know if they were carrying weapons around or not," he told the station.
Magdaleno told CBS Houston he caught two juveniles downstairs and told them to lie on the floor. Then he ordered a third person, who was upstairs, to get on the floor as well.
"I wanted to keep them calm because I was outnumbered and you know, like I said, at anytime if they felt fear, I know they would have overtaken me," he said.
Magdaleno wasn't able to call 911 from his cell phone so he called his wife, who was at work, and told her to call.
When police arrived, the three suspects were taken into custody.
