Health care vote, Montana special election and American Airlines uniforms
Health care vote
The House of Representatives will vote today on the GOP's long-awaited health care bill designed to replace Obamacare. The vote comes more than a month after House Republicans' first attempt failed to even make it to a vote due to a lack of support, and before Congress goes into recess for 11 days. This time, GOP leaders say they're confident it will go their way.
Montana matters
Fresh off a near-win in Georgia, Democrats are hoping to turn their voters' enthusiasm into electoral victories. They need to win 24 seats to retake control of the House in 2018, and thanks to the redistricting since the big Republican wins in 2010, they'll need to compete in traditionally red districts like the one up for grabs this month in a Montana special election.
American Airlines uniforms
Many American Airlines workers say their new uniforms make them sick and they want the company to do more to help. More than 3,000 flight attendants and about 200 pilots have filed reports complaining that their uniforms have caused rashes, hives and breathing problems.
Prince Philip
Queen Elizabeth's husband Prince Philip was seen yesterday at a sports ceremony in London, but this morning we've learned that it was to be one of his last official engagements. Buckingham Palace has announced that the Duke of Edinburgh "will no longer carry out public engagements" from the autumn.
Plus-size bonanza
The U.S. apparel industry is struggling as retailers grapple with the shift to ecommerce. But stores that cater to plus-sizes for women are bucking the trend. Sales of more ample clothing are growing at double the rate of the overall apparel segment, fueled in part by social media. So how are retailers cashing in?
