Feds: Letter Carrier Kept 13K Pieces of Mail

Federal authorities have filed charges against a Philadelphia postal carrier investigators allege stored nearly 13,000 pieces of undelivered mail in the garage of his home.

Forty-two-year-old David Blauser was charged Monday with obstructing the delivery of mail.

U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger says over the course of approximately 13 years, Blauser stored 12,808 pieces of mail at his home instead of delivering it.

It took three mail trucks to remove the mail from the home when it was discovered on April 28. It was all eventually delivered.

If convicted, Blauser faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail, five years probation and a $5,000 fine. A telephone number could not be located for Blauser and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.
