(CBS) ORLANDO, Fla. - Faron Thompson, a 29-year-old man, was arrested in Orlando on suspicion of trying to force his fiancee to swallow her diamond engagement ring because she no longer wanted to live with him, CBS affiliate WKMG reports.

Thompson was arrested Sunday on charges of battery via strangulation and child neglect, according to the station.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office says Thompson's girlfriend of four years contacted authorities about the incident after she left home and drove to a local Walmart.

WKMG reports the victim told police she was arguing with Thompson about moving her things out of her home and left the ring on the kitchen counter. When she went to retrieve it, Thompson reportedly had the ring and tried to force it down her throat while holding her down.

Thompson also threatened to burn her house down, police say according to the station.

WKMG reports the woman told police she was pushed against the wall during the attack while holding a one-year-old child, adding that Thompson covered her mouth and prevented her from breathing.

The woman was eventually able to leave with the child and drive to the Walmart where she met police. A responding officer said he noticed redness around her neck and throat and a scratch on her upper right arm, WKMG reports.

Thompson was later located and arrested. According to WKMG, he denies the allegations.
