Exclusive: Pete Townshend's new single, "How Can I Help You"

"Truancy: The Very Best Of Pete Townshend," a new collection of reissued solo tracks by a founding member of The Who, is to be released on June 30 by Universal Music Enterprises. In addition to 15 classic songs, the album features two brand new compositions by Townshend.

In this exclusive preview, you can hear and purchase one of the new tracks, "How Can I Help You," by clicking on the player below.

"How Can I Help You," says Towshend, was partly inspired by "the frustrating emotional difficulties" of a colleague whose great physical pain drove him into depression. Originally performed in an acoustic version on Rachel Fuller's webcast show, "In the Attic," Townshend's recording adds drum loops and breaks to the acoustics, then Gretsch and Rickenbacker 12-string guitars and John Entwistle's hybrid Thunderbird-Fender Precision bass.

"Truancy" features highlights from Townshend's solo albums, including "Rough Boys" and "Let My Love Open The Door," from the album "Empty Glass"; "English Boy" (from " Psychoderelict"); "Face Dances (Part Two)" from "All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes"; and "Face The Face" (from " White City"). It was remastered at Abbey Road Studios.
