Did Jon Gosselin's Ex-Girlfriend Haily Glassman Ransack His Apartment? NYPD Investigates

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Welcome to Jon Gosselin's real-life – if you can tell the difference. Gosselin, co-star of the recently ended reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8," accuses ex-girlfriend Hailey Glassman of ransacking his apartment over Christmas, and she accuses him of setting the whole thing up as a publicity stunt.

According to a statement released by Gosselin's attorney, Mark Heller, and published on RadarOnline, Gosselin returned from "a joyful family gathering with his children" in Pennsylvania to find his Upper West Side New York apartment ransacked and a letter "affixed to Jon's bedroom dresser by a butcher knife."

The note was signed by Glassman, according to Heller, and is now in the custody of the New York Police Department and being tested for fingerprints. Heller says that the couple broke up a few months ago but that Glassman moved out a week ago.

Glassman's attorney, Anand Ahuja, says the whole thing is a hoax and that Gosselin orchestrated the break-in to both frame his client and create more publicity for himself, according to The New York Post.

The newspaper also reports that police sources say there are some suspicious circumstances surrounding the break-in. For one thing, reporters arrived at the building almost before the cops did.

The sources also say that Glassman was interviewed regarding the break-in and admitted to writing the note, but said she did not use a butcher knife to rip up his clothes, drapes and furniture.

Ahuja says that anything Glassman took from the apartment was hers for the taking, saying Gosselin told her just before Christmas that he was going to be evicted and that she should take whatever she wanted.

"The last time my client was in that apartment was Dec. 24," Ahuja said.

Heller says Gosselin was not in on the break-in and that the building's security tapes will prove who is really at fault. "Hailey Glassman is going to jail. It's as simple as that," he says.

The burglary marks the latest real-life drama for the 32-year-old Gosselin, who was half of the couple who rose to fame as the prolific parents of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8," before splitting up this year.

Viewers watched their 10-year marriage disintegrate amid allegations that both had been unfaithful, which they denied. The breakup itself became an entertainment event, announced in an episode watched by more than 10 million people.

The couple officially divorced Dec. 18.
