Chinese Firm The9 Invests $38 Million in JKorean Firm G10 Entertainment

The smaller number invests in the bigger number: The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY), an online game operator in China, has made an equity investment in G10 Entertainment, a game developer in Korea. Under the terms of the investment, The9 has acquired a minority stake in G10 in exchange for a cash investment of approximately $38 million. The Chinese online games market grew 60 percent in 2007 to reach $1.66 billion, according to Pearl Research estimates.

G10 Entertainment is known for their advanced casual games. Its online dance game Audition is popular in China, with more than 800,000 peak concurrent users, it says. The9 is scheduled to operate Audition 2, the sequel to the popular dance game, in mainland China. More details in release here.
