(CBS/AP) THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Investigators are trying to locate two California teens who may have run away from their Ventura County homes and could be "suicidal," authorities said.

Nicholas Marino, 13, and his 14-year-old girlfriend, Kaylee Rebert, were reported missing about 1 a.m. Thursday. Authorities said the teen couple was last seen at their homes and believe that they ran away.

A 1,750-acre regional park was searched after police dogs were led there by a scent from Kaylee's house, which is within two miles.

"We did a search by ground and by air and we're confident they aren't there," said Sgt. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

No search was planned for Friday, but investigators planned to contact relatives and friends, and tap social media to develop leads.

Investigators don't suspect foul play but said the pair might be suicidal. Authorities did not elaborate.

Kaylee's father implored his daughter at a press conference to come forward and said she won't get in trouble.

"We've never been so concerned for your safety," said Dan Rebert. "We just want you to come home."

Buschow said there are no records indicating either Nicholas or Kaylee had run away before.
