Bratayley family reveals cause of death for son Caleb

Last month, YouTube star Caleb Logan Bratayley died at the age of 13, shocking millions of fans.

At the time, the Bratayley family (not their real name) asked fans to focus on Caleb's life instead of his death, but they did say that their son was pronounced dead after the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to a medical emergency at their home in Maryland. Now, the family has shared with fans that Caleb's cause of death was a heart condition.

"The doctor confirmed today that Caleb passed away from a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy that went undetected in his yearly checkups," wrote mom Katie. "Caleb didn't have any symptoms so the doctor said there was nothing we could have done differently. The girls' hearts were just recently checked and thankfully look the way they should right now. The sadness of losing someone you love is unimaginable. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, your kindness and support continues to help our family. We miss our baked potato everyday. ‪#‎calebratelife‬ ‪#‎celebratelife‬"

The Bratayleys live-streamed Caleb's memorial in October; the boy died on Oct. 1. After he died, Katie wrote: "Yesterday at 7:08 p.m. Caleb Logan Bratayley passed away of natural causes. This has come as a shock to all of us. Words cannot describe how much we will miss him. His incredibly funny, loving and wonderful spirit made us all fall in love with him as a YouTuber, friend, brother and son. We know you tune in to watch each day and eagerly anticipate new videos, but ask that you bear with us while we deal with this tragedy as a family."
