CANCUN, Mexico (CBS/AP) Mexican authorities say that the preliminary autopsy of Monica Beresford-Redman, the wife of TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, shows that she suffered multiple blows to the head in addition to being strangled.
Quintana Roo state Attorney General Francisco Alor said they were waiting for the results of forensic tests before deciding whether to arrest Bruce Beresford-Redman in the death of his wife, but gave no details during a news conference on what tests were performed on the body.
Bruce Beresford-Redman, former "Survivor" producer and creator of MTV's "Pimp My Ride," is barred from leaving Mexico and his passport has been confiscated, according to Alor.
Monica Beresford-Redman was found dead in a sewer at the Moon Palace resort last week, but authorities do not believe she was killed there. Investigators say witnesses saw the couple arguing the night before the producer reported her missing.
Alor has previously said the Monica Beresford-Redman's body had scratches on the neck, signs of asphyxiation and evidence of a heavy blow to the right temple, and that Bruce Beresford-Redman had scratches on his face and arms when he was questioned by authorities.
A lawyer for Monica Beresford-Redman's sisters, Carla and Jeane Burgos, said Monday that they are mourning their sister's death and will speak further when the time is right.
"Both are committed to making sure that justice is served for Monica," Monica Triessl said.
