2 Chicago-area schools on lockdown after reports of possible intruder
(CBS) CHICAGO - Two schools in Addison, Ill., were placed on lockdown Friday after reports of a possible intruder in one of the schools, CBS News reports.
The intruder was reported at Indian Trail Junior High School on Kennedy Drive, reports CBS Station WBBM. Nearby Army Trail Elementary School also instituted a lockdown.
WBBM reports about 15 to 20 officers and a police dog were going through the high school to check on the report of a suspicious person, but they have nothing found so far.
Addison Police Chief Bill Hayden told WBBM the report came in between 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. He said although no one suspicious had been found as of noon, students were still locked in their classrooms as a precaution.
He said that as soon as the canine unit finishes going through the school, the lockdown will be released.
