    On his last day as CEO just six weeks ago, Steve Jobs announced that "Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it." That may well be, but Jobs' own story is now complete.

    Steve Jobs died today at age 56, Apple announced — true to form, without providing any details of his passing. Jobs has been ill on-and-off for much of the last decade, having battled pancreatic cancer since at least 2004.
