Voters decided on seven issues including whether to repeal a state law banning discrimination against gays. Voters decided not to repeal it. Opponents collected enough signatures to force a statewide vote on the law, which expands the Maine Human Rights Act to make discrimination based on sexual orientation illegal in employment, housing, credit, public accommodations and education. The Nov. 8 election marked the third statewide vote on the issue.
Approved: Offer tax breaks for waterfront property used for commercial fishing.
