The episode that was broadcast that night was "The Girls Want To Go To A Nightclub," which is memorable for Lucy's impersonation of a hillbilly girl who's hot for Ricky. It was not the first time the viewing audience was introduced to the Ricardos, however. I Love Lucy's pilot episode already had aired earlier that year, in March. In its first season, the program was No. 3 in the ratings. It did not hit No. 1 until the following year.
