Today on Face the Nation, is there or isn't there a deal in the works for healthcare reform, is it all falling apart. Senator Harry Reid announced a tentative deal last week that eliminates the so-called public option and adds an expansion of Medicare. But by Friday it seemed the wheels were coming off that deal, too--are there sixty votes in the Senate for it, will President Obama get a bill before Christmas, or should he do what some Republicans want--just stop and start over.

President Obama is expected to announce an increase in troops for the war in Afghanistan Tuesday, but who will foot the bill of a million dollars per soldier per year? And just how does President Obama finish the job there? We'll ask Senator Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Today on Face the Nation, so it begins. The Senate votes along party lines to debate health care reform--but what are the chances now of a bill before Christmas? Big disagreements remain over taxes, abortion, and just the huge size of the bill. Can majority leader Reid keep the Democrats in line? Will a Republican crossover to help? And what is going to happen with the so-called public option?
