Each year, some priests receive treatment at special facilities for what experts call a "disorder of desire." One such facility is the Institute of Living in Hartford, Conn. The rehabilitation program there does not set out to "cure" patients of their sexual desire for children. "This isn't something that goes away, any more than you can change the sexual desire of a heterosexual or homosexual person," says Heidi McCloskey, who directs the treatment program at the Institute of Living. "What we have to do is figure out how to manage it."
