The terror attacks on the U.S. prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to immediately enact stricter security guidelines at airports across the country. About two months later, the U.S. government approved a bill for increased aviation security and set up a new Transportation Department agency to have jurisdiction over transportation security.
