In their first fashion face-off April 3, 2009, in France, Michelle Obama, left, and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy both wore stylish but proper coats embellished with flowing neckline bows and coordinated with matching dresses. The European fashion press agreed that Mrs. Obama's Thakoon ensemble, in black and fuchsia silk, stole the show from Bruni-Sarkozy's putty gray Dior outfit.
