Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford as Luke Skywaker, Princess Leia and Han Solo in a scene from movie "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" in 1977. The role of Han Solo was not originally planned for Ford. George Lucas hired him as a carpenter and pulled Ford to read lines with other actors. Director Steven Spielberg, impressed by Ford, convinced Lucas to cast him as the hero.
