Prince Albert
When Prince Albert of Monaco was born March 14, 1958, a 101-gun salute was fired, all prisoners in Monaco's jail were released and the next day was declared a national holiday. The only son of Prince Rainier and American actress Grace Kelly, Albert ascended to the throne after the death of his father in April 2005. A giant birthday cake was part of the festivities marking his 50th birthday in Monaco, March 14, 2008.
