The hit tune "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" earns Will Smith a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rap Solo Performance on February 25, 1999, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Prior to his debut as a solo artist, Smith had already made a name for himself in the acting realm. In 1990, he was cast in the NBC sitcom, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." The family comedy proved to be a great success running for six years.
