A Sea Knight crashed in Kuwait, about nine miles from the Iraq border, killing eight British troops and four U.S. Marines. No hostile fire was reported in the area.

A Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, killing 12 American soldiers aboard.

A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in northern Iraq, killing all 14 U.S. soldiers aboard. The military said initial indications showed the aircraft experienced a mechanical problem and there were no indications of hostile fire.
