Augusten Burroughs arrives at the world premiere of "Running With Scissors" Oct. 10, 2006, in Beverly Hills, Calif. The film is based on Burroughs' best-selling 2003 memoir. It tracks the author's troubled young life in the 1970s, with a chilly, alcoholic father and a deluded, drug-addicted mother who eventually granted custody of her son to an eccentric psychiatrist.
