More items included in the Emmy gift baskets. On Aug. 16, 2006, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced it reached an agreement with the IRS to pay taxes on gift bags given to Oscar presenters. The IRS says the lavish gifts are considered taxable income. Academy leaders decided to discontinue the gifting tradition and will pay taxes on gift bags given to Oscar presenters through 2005.
