"I would like to express my absolute condemnation, the government's condemnation and that of the Spanish people for those brutal acts which killed a large number of innocents.
"Spain has suffered for decades the scourge of terrorism, and on March 11 last year it was victim of the most outrageous attack registered till then in Europe. For this reason, Spaniards understands the suffering that the British people are feeling today. We join intensely in their pain, just as they and other countries around the world joined in ours on other occasions."
