Described as written by the finger of God and given to Moses on two tablets, the Ten Commandments are found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 of the Bible. Scholars say tradition and biblical writings place Moses' writing of Exodus as happening sometime between 1590 and 1490 BC. Jews, Catholics and Protestants have different versions of the Ten Commandments.
