Senate - Winner: Republican Johnny Isakson

Isakson easily took seat of retiring Bush-backing Democrat Zell Miller; led throughout the race over Rep. Denise Majette, state's first black Senate candidate.

Isakson, 59, was elected to the House in 1999 during a special election for retiring Speaker Newt Gingrich’s seat. Isakson had a number of endorsements including former Sen. Mack Mattingly, the National Association of Realtors and the National Association of Home Builders. He is conservative and had an organized campaign.

House: Georgia has 13 House districts. The lineup was eight Republicans and five Democrats.
