Honduras

Troop Contribution: 370
Recalled on April 20, 2004

Honduran Defense Minister Federico Breve said his country's 370 troops in Iraq would leave ahead of their scheduled July 1, 2004, departure.

Foreign Minister Leonidas Rosa said that security for the Honduran troops was a concern. "The departure from Iraq is not out of fear," he said, "only that our mission was not to participate in an armed conflict but in helping rebuild that country."

Honduran soldiers had been serving in Najaf under Spanish command, alongside small forces from El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.
