Apple partners with carmakers for new Siri features

(CBS News) Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference was a showcase for a variety of Apple products. One of the most intriguing announcements to come from WWDC 2012 was the announcement that Apple is partnering with several automakers to incorporate Siri more closely in cars. Apple's voice recognition system will come with a new "Eyes Free" feature that will allow drivers to use Siri in their cars hands- and sight-free.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the lower control arms in the rear suspensions of the Libertys can rust and break, possibly causing them to crash. However, the company says it knows of no crashes or injuries from the problem. The recall involves vehicles in states where salt is used to clear ice and snow from the roads.

Audi posts record sales in May

/ Audi(CBS News/AP) Volkswagen's luxury brand, Audi, reported record sales for May thanks to a big boost from China. The company said Monday that Chinese sales rose 44.2 percent compared to the same month a year ago. The A8 fullsize four-door luxury sedan and the locally-built Q5 compact crossover SUV both contributed strongly to the increase in China.

Porsche SUVs put off die-hard sports car fans

(AP) - Manfred Wilke loves nothing more than speeding down the German Autobahn in his 911 coupe. Gazing at a 911 Carrera GTS with a 100,000 euro ($125,000) price tag in Porsche's flagship showroom in Berlin, the real estate manager said only cars like the sporting two-seater deserved to carry the Porsche badge.
He is one of a number of Porsche purists who are appalled at the Stuttgart-based sports car maker's aggressive push into sport utility vehicles and family-style saloons.

Honda Fit EV receives EPA's highest MPG rating ever
(CBS News/AP) The 2013 Honda Fit EV has received the highest fuel efficiency rating ever from the Environmental Protection Agency, the company said Wednesday. Honda said the electric subcompact received a combined adjusted mile-per-gallon-equivalency rating of 118 mpg (50 kpl).
