NEW ORLEANS (CBS/AP) Four New Orleans police officers have been charged with deprivation of rights under color of law and use of a weapon during the commission of a crime for shootings that occurred during the chaotic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

MISSOULA, Mont. (CBS/AP) Former University of Montana football player Jimmy Wilson has been granted another year of athletic eligibility by the NCAA and will return to the field for the team's fall season.
Officials allowed the 23-year-old cornerback to come back after his murder acquittal in the 2007 shooting death of his aunt's boyfriend.

BERKELEY, Calif. (CBS/AP) A 21-year-old man was found dead with an apparent head wound near the University of California, Berkeley campus, and authorities have yet to determine whether he was the victim of a crime or if his death was an accident.
The body of Nicholas Bailey, who attended California State University, Sacramento, was found unconscious on the street at approximately 9 a.m. July 2. Police say he suffered from a head trauma, but are not sure what caused it.

LITCHFIELD, Conn. (AP) Prosecutors on Tuesday dropped a felony burglary charge against actor Rip Torn, clearing the way for him to seek special probation that might settle charges that he broke into a bank while drunk and armed in January.
The Emmy-winning actor, 79, applied for accelerated rehabilitation, a program for first-time nonviolent offenders that allows charges to be dropped after a probation period.
