Palin Speech: No Phones, Laptops, Photos…

(CBS/PublicAffairs)
Updated Nov. 9, 2009, 7:08 p.m. ET

Former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be speaking at an event hosted by the group Wisconsin Right to Life this evening.

It is a closed event – which generally means no press. Amid apparent worries that the ex-governor's words will be aired publicly despite that restriction, however, Wisconsin Right to Life and/or Palin's handlers are taking the notion of "closed" to a whole new level.

Check out this list of prohibited items at the event, which was spotted by CBS News Political Director Steve Chaggaris. All bags, by the way, "will be searched":

•No cell phones
•No recording devices
•No video or still cameras
•No laptops
•No photos or recording allowed
•No literature distribution
•No posters or banners
•No strollers or car seats
•No carry-in food or beverages

Tickets for the event at the Wisconsin Exposition Center outside of Milwaukee, which go for $30, appear to still be available.

The restrictions are "bizarre," according to Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate.

"You know, for someone who claims to be a rogue and isn’t afraid of what other people think it really is sort of hypocritical to not let the media, the press cover your event," he told Wisconsin Radio Network.

Palin's memoir "Going Rogue" is set to be released in less than two weeks, and she is planning a publicity tour.

Why would any member of the press find these precautions unusual when they misquote, misread, and fail to perform rudimentary research on their stories.... ?

she makes my flesh crawl everything from the fake folksy dolly parton glad handling to her giant shiny chin but she has inadvertently provided some laughs --i thought women would be better established in politics by intelligent front runners first before we got an x chromosone dan quayle. the palin-drone can be read in any direction-result still the same-the emperor has no clothes--somebody please get a recording -it would not be that hard to do and could provide additional merriment for the festive season

Palin has never held a news conference with real reporters & questions! This has got to be a record of some sort. Hand picked one on one's do not count. There has never been a more manipulated image in US political history with absolutely nothing behind it. She is vacuous!!!

Hellllooooo...the no media restriction was put in place by Wisconsin Right to Life, not by Sarah Palin. Get the facts straight people!

You sure about that? A source would help us to all have our facts straight. Has WRtL given a comment about it?

Hopefully, Sarah Palin pleaded with event organizers to allow any people with concealed carry licenses to freely carry concealed pistols into the event. Otherwise, she's essentially saying that gun control is okay with her when it comes to the places she visits.

Fear and paranoia are the infallible identifying features of the 'new conservatives'.

Fear of progress and paranoia about nearly everything.

Can you imagine what restrictions would have been in place if she had been VP?

She has a Messiah complex? Can you spell Obama? Too funny! She is delivering a message to those attending the event, period. Why do you even care to comment. The answer is Liberals/Progressives/Marxists will always tell you who they are afraid of. It's the one they try hard to demonize.

I hope this is a permanent policy re:Sarah.

Then we won't have to listen to any more of her ignorant sound bites.

Bite what? The 10 billion dollars a month they've been spending in Iraq for years now? That was Bush's nonsense any way you look at it erichsh. What you and those like you don't realize is that the bank bailout that Obama endorsed will result in huge profits from government owned stock sales (just look at the "then" and "now" stock values only to improve even more in the days to come). Obama will eventually come out of this making the Republicans look like the fiscally irresponsable lot that they are...and I hope the Dems go to great lenths to put it in Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity's face for years to come.

File this story under CBS in "Making things up". If Sarah had allowed cameras CBS would have said "Sarah only seeks the spotlight". The local newspaper has the story CBS wanted to cover up:

Ya know, I almost feel sorry for palin supporters.

They'd love to watch or listen to her at this event, and she cuts them completely off.

Sure she's cute, but you palin supporters deserve better. It's obvious you long for a great gal in your corner, she's just not it.

It gets so old... the very same liberals flapping their gums about Palin's restrictions on the media would - if the speech were opened up to the world the way they purport to advocate - find creative ways to distort, twist, and mangle every syllable she uttered into yet another streamm of vicious personal attacks. And then blather away about why is anyone still paying attention to her, why is the media still covering her etc.

Talk about old......the very same liberals flapping there gums.....yeh, yeh, yeh. Haven't looked in the mirror lately, have you. The liberals learned by listening to the best blow hards of the past decade, right wing nut cases like Rush and Hannity. Only the libs know the difference between truth and fantasy.

[ if the speech were opened up to the world the way they purport to advocate - find creative ways to distort, twist, and mangle every syllable she uttered into yet another streamm of vicious personal attacks. ]

this is exactly what fox does with everything obama or any of his spokepeople say or do ... every day. strangely ... it always seems to equate to a description utilizing the same 'auth follower' keywords ... which include ... rationing ... govt beauracrat ... socialism ... msm ... lack of choice ... real americans ... and hard working.

then they'll blather away about everyone that's covering him ... that he's a mesiah ... and nobody's critical of him ... etc.

[?No carry-in food or beverages ]

what's this one about ... are they selling refreshments, candy, and popcorn like a movie theatre?
