Jaycee Lee Dugard Photos: First Look Inside Her Terror Tent

NEW YORK (CBS) How did Jayce Lee Dugard survive for 18 years in the backyard of the couple that allegedly abducted, raped, and brainwashed her?

We may never truly know. But shocking photos have now emerged that show the inside of the tent that Dugard lived in with her two children, 11 and 15, who were allegedly sired by her captor Phillip Garrido.

The images are both shockingly normal and sad. The Garrido's Antioch, Calif., backyard is a place of squalor. Trash is piled high. A rusty old tricycle lies abandoned. But police also said that the tent had electricity and a rudimentary outhouse was found in the yard. In one of the photos, a CD-Rom and computer printer box can be seen; in another, old photos, a roll of toilet paper and an ironing board.

Those who did business with the Garridos say the two children were always clean and well presented, as if from an older more conservative time.

The photos still leave nagging questions. What did this backyard compound look like when Dugard was first abducted 18 years ago at the age of 11? How did Dugard explain her life in the tents to her daughters? And what was the dynamic between the Garridos who lived in the house and Dugard and her girls who lived in the yard.

Perhaps most disturbingly, where did Phillip Garrido allegedly commit his years of predatory horrors on Dugard, who was just a small child when this backyard compound became her new home?

What a shame to have such type of parole officers. Criminal action should be taken against such irresponsible parole officers and they must be put in jail. Otherwise more and more sex offenders will destroy the helpless.

How was she so stupid as to not simply walk out the door of the tent, hop over that nothing of a fence and walk to the nearest neighbor, police station or whatever?
Those kidnappers had to sleep SOMETIME!

How was it no one complained about the junk and trash all over the backyard?
How was it none of those snoopy city/county/state building inspectors or property tax assessors never checked this but they seem to notice and fine people for having grass that's an inch too tall or some forbidden noxious weeds growing that they didnt cut back?

How could you call someone who has been victomised this severely stupid? "If you escape, Ill kill your parents." "You will never see your daughter again." "Ill rape your child too." "Jesus wants you to live here with me." "Your parents are ashamed of you and dont want you anymore, I am the only one who cares about you." "I feed you, I provide you with a bed and a TV dont I?" "Nobody else wants you, your parents asked me to take you because they didn't want you anymore." "Your parents are dead. I took you to protect you because your Dad killed your Mom and you needed a safe place to be." "I will find you and you will have to spend 3 more weeks locked in the cage." She was probabally locked in a sound proof cage for many years. Escape attempts were probably punished with prolonged encarceration. Nexster1 - you are a true MORON. You obviously know nothing about empathy or psycology.

Look closely at the writing style of this article...the use of adjectives; the assumptions that are made.

This is journalism?

In such case like this, it is very fortunate that she is still alive, thank God for that. He should be sent to prison for Life no possibility of parole.....
