Oops: Teacher Accidentally Gave Self-Made Sex Tape to 5th Graders

ELK GROVE, Calif (CBS) A class of fifth graders in California got a shocking crash course on the birds and the bees courtesy of their teacher and an x-rated home video she accidently included in a DVD of classroom memories.

The error was not caught until after the DVDs were distributed to the students and their families. Parents tell CBS 13 Sacramento that the woman is a good teacher that made an honest but embarrassing mistake.

According to the station, the offending DVD starts with a menu screen that displays various school trips and functions. Click on one of them and “you see kids in a classroom sharing stories. They then start clapping and the video suddenly cuts to sex.”

The teacher, according to CBS 13, called one family’s home the day after the DVD was sent and apologized profusely, “asking the man and his wife to call every parent they knew to stop their kids from seeing the DVD too.”

"All she could say was that it was a horrible mix up," said one father.

CBS 13 reports that the local school district is investigating the case, but that it is unlikely that teacher, who is well-liked and respected, will lose her job.

But there is good news in all of this. School officials say a new, more appropriate, DVD will be sent to students in the coming days.

I believe that the teacher should resign from her job. I understand that she made a mistake, however politicians make mistakes all the time and we hold them to a higher standard. Why not teachers? Resign to save face, acknowledge the gravity of the error, and to give she and those around her the space to move on from this.

This is a question of dignity and accountability. She should take the high road and resign if the school board is not willing to discipline her appropriately. However, this is NOT an incident that can be swept under the rug.

Think about it . . . what if this was a male teacher, what would the response be? If the sex on the tape was homosexual in nature, what would the response be?

Usually when someone makes a video they play it back to see how it turned out, not mass produce it and send it out without at least checking it out first. In that context the Teacher should be held accountable and maybe transferred, but not fired. The penalty should not be extreme.

There is nothing wrong with a teacher, or anyone else of legal age in any profession, having sex as long it is done in total privacy and without exposure to others. I hope that this incident is what it appears, that being a big mistake and/or accident on the part of the teacher. The aftermath of this incident and how it is explained to the children by the parents and teacher with determine the long range effect this incident will have on all parties. I trust each will handle this matter with reasonable due diligence.

The majority of computer users have no idea what they are doing, in fact the majority of computer users only use their computers to about 10% of its capacity. When using video editing software its very easy to include clips you didn't plan on including, and the reason is because a lot of software, not just video editing software is running on automatic, doing a lot of things for you to make using the program easier, the program is when computers programs are running on automatic doing things for you, you don't have any idea what the software is doing, you just cross your fingers and hope for the best, most of the time things turn out fine, but every now and then things like this happen. It was probably an honest mistake. The new nightmare is cell phones that automatically dial a number when you mention someones name in your address book. There are already tales of cell phones dialing people automatically and making a connections unknown to the owner while the cell phone owner bad mouths someone while they listen in! LOL

I would be absolutely livid if a DVD was sent to my home and it involved a "sex scene". I do not believe for one minute this was an error on the teacher's part.

Who cares if the parent wanted to talk on TV. I would not talk on TV either. What is important in this case is that he called attention to this "so called, mistake"!

I also totally disagree that it is OK that children this age are exposed to a "sex scene"! It is one thing for a child to have an idea about sex at that age but they sure as heck do not need a movie showing whatever act she was performing!

If it had been a male teacher he would have been arrested, fired, and called a pedophile. But since it was a woman it's all OK. It's like callling someone a ******. You've just got to be the right kind of person for it to be OK to do.

Why didn't any of the parents put in on You Tube or a porno web site? Then donate any money to the school where the kinky teacher is employed. That way she would be REALLY SORRY!!

I'm really disgusted at the local CBS affilate's deceision to do this story and at the father for taking it to them. from ALL accounts this was a mistake on the teachers part. One that was found out by all the children and the families that received the DVD and anyone who these families know that they told. That alone probably resulted in enough pain and embarrasment to last a lifetime. Now its taken public via the news and the internet, and for what reason or purpose.

Is the community at large being alerted to a sexual predator and their intentioanl harm to a victim and other potential vitims - NO; is this something of note about the delining state of education - No; the teacher is even praised for work. That leaves only one reason...to get ratings, and to get big ratings. The parent could have put it on youtube all on his own if he wanted to just get the message out, and if it was a true story of note, viewership would have be astronomical.

What's leading to the fraying of morales and decency in the good ol' US of A...look no further than out local news stations.

BINGO! Objective journalism is a thing of the past. Now even the mainstream news media are resorting to tabloid journalism.

No longer is it "if it bleeds, it leads".

Now the attitude is, "If it bleeds, work that artery open wider, spread the blood all over, and then report the shaving cut as a vicious stabbing incident."

This story could have been tastefully reported in text only, without sidebar pictures or on-demand video, and without the giant "CRIMESIDER" billboard. All this does is turn the poor woman's misadventure into a nationwide scandal.

Congratulations CBS, you've helped destroy yet another individual's life in the name of shameless ratings.

children in some house hold have access to cable tv and video on demand run rampant with adult entertainment. the parents find out about them when they see the charges on the cable bill. there are parental blocks a parent can add if they just take the time, this is the problem talk to the children they will tell you. On the flip side, the teacher should have proof watched what she was giving out. Im embarrassed for her. she is getting her 15 minutes of fame in the worst way. welcome to the world being a celebrity.

I can't believe they thought she would just waltz outside and discuss this with them. She's very fortunate she will not lose her job, but she is going to have a difficult time going to work after that.

She may not have done this intentionally but she should definitely step down from her job. That tape will become school legend and she will never live it down. She won't be able to effectively teach in an atmosphere of disrespect. She should quietly leave her job and teach in another state.

As for the Dad, I'd be upset too. He's a jerk if he was the one who provided the tape (and he does show his face on t.v.). But...um...the woman sent out a tape of herself masturbating to school kids that she teaches. So. That would be the unfortunate consequence of the mistake she made. If you're going to do stuff like that you have to be prepared for the results. She's obviously something of an exhibitionist, so, I'm not entirely sure it's even that upsetting to her, who knows it might have been a subconscious intention.

This poor teacher was obviously trying to make a special dvd for her class. Mistakes happen. However, this TOOL who calls himself a father is either fishing for a potential lawsuit or is just as stupid as he sounds. If he cant figure out what to say to his own 5th grader after being exposed to a sexually explicit image or scene, then maybe he is the one who needs psychological help. My concern is if they were watching the dvd together, as he states so freely on the news, didn't he just turn it off? It takes 5 seconds to get off your butt and hit the stop button or pull the plug from the wall. This idiot likely watched the entire scene.

I agree with all of Sea Stallion's comment. First of all, I did not watch any of the video. I only read the comments on CBS, which has become my source for newspapers and magazines , which means I have zero knowledge of the teacher's tape, or the father's response.
However, the limited know how I have of American people, is that an event will happen, one or more persons will respond how event will tarnish, and others will come, saying that they were waiting for the same bus. Of course, by bus I want it known that I mean people will state their interpretation of how said event will scar.
Yes, I am being American, but I want people to know that spreading their difference is not correct. What is correct? Learning how to make positives out of negatives. Step one, for those parents of classmates, return the videos to the teacher.
Why? These DVD's will be needed so the teacher can make the correction, and have these DVD's express the thanks to the students, who are the reason she worked so strenuous, in the hopes that her students will learn to value and enjoy education. Step two, if one deems necessary, will not be given by me.

DOUBLE-SATANDARDS are a beotch! Women get away with EVERYTHING. If this was a man, he'd be fired, brought up on charges that would cause him to register as a s** offender and be publicly flogged. But in this case, well, she's a good little teacher who made a silly litte mistake tee hehehe. She said she was sorry tee hehehehe.
