LAPD Searching For Jackson's Live-In Doctor, Says Gossip Site

(AP)
LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) It feels like we have been here before. A celebrity suddenly dead; rumors of heavy prescription drug use and questions. Who is to blame: doctors, the entourage, the celebrity's own demons?

Now, as some news outlets are reporting that Michael Jackson was given an injection of Demerol shortly before his death, internet gossip site TMZ is reporting that the Los Angeles Police Department is looking for the doctor, who reportedly lived with Jackson at his home.

The site says the doctor gave Jackson an injection before he died and now cannot be found. The doctor's car was towed from Jackson's driveway last night, the site said.

Authorities are seeking to clear up the mystery surrounding Michael Jackson's death, including whether drugs could have been a factor.

An autopsy is planned for Friday, though results aren't likely to be final until toxicology tests can be completed, a process that could take several days or even weeks. If a cause can be determined from the autopsy, Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator Jerry McKibben said he will announce the results.

Brian Oxman, a former attorney of Jackson's and a family friend, said he was concerned about Jackson's use of painkillers and he warned the singer's family about possible abuse.

“I said one day, we're going to have this experience. And when Anna Nicole Smith passed away, I said we cannot have this kind of thing with Michael Jackson,” Oxman said Friday. “The result was, I warned everyone, and lo and behold, here we are. I don't know what caused his death. But I feared this day, and here we are.”

Anna Nicole Smith - a Playboy model - died in 2007 due to an accidental overdose of prescription medications. Her toxicology report found a cocktail of powerful sedatives, anxiety and insomnia pills. Smith's boyfriend and two doctors were eventually charged with conspiring to give her controlled substances. The case is ongoing.

Oxman claims Jackson had prescription drugs at his disposal to help with pain suffered when he broke his leg after he fell off a stage and for broken vertebrae in his back.

The 50-year-old musical superstar died Thursday, just as he was preparing for a series of 50 concerts starting July 13 at London's 02 arena.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in the posh Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

“When the autopsy comes, all hell's going to break loose, so thank God we're celebrating him now,” Liza Minnelli told CBS' “The Early Show” by telephone.

In 2007, Jackson settled a lawsuit filed by a Beverly Hills pharmacy that claimed he owed more than $100,000 for prescription drugs over a two-year period.

After Jackson was acquitted on child molestation charges in 2005, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon argued against returning some items belonging to Jackson he labeled “contraband.” Sneddon said those included syringes, the drug Demerol and prescriptions for various drugs, mainly antibiotics, that were in different people's names.

The similarities of millions of people and the media idolizing and worshiping Michael and Obama is frightening. I was hoping there were enough of us left to divert the course we are on to socialism but like Michael's "Thriller" I now see that I am surrounded by millions of brainless zombies. Bye America...

When you get to be MY age, all this cr@p is commonplace. Judy Garland, Jimi Hendricks, Janis Joplin, Mama Cass, Elvis, etc etc... they all got high on success and thought they were immortal. Too much money makes the people around them sycophants who say nothing but "yes, you are the greatest" and give them whatever they want, which includes drugs. As their fame and talents fade, they go into depression and nothing can make them happy, so they escape into the euphoria of drugs. The adoring public buys enough to keep them in money until the idol starts to fade and then they dump them like yesterday's fish. Only a few have had the cajones to withstand the FAME cycle. We, the public, need to realize our over-adulation can lead to this deadly cycle. Not much can be done with all the hyper-media coverage now.

I GUARANTEE you a broken leg continues to cause pain for some until they die... quit looking for a way to trash the dead...this is all sad because many, many people truly loved him, just like you have people who love you... (I suppose)

I cannot believe that the doctor would have given him massive doses of Demerol without having Narcan available to reverse any possible sedation. The doctor must have had Narcan and it would have easily reversed the effects of the Demerol. No there must be some other explanation. Plus, the picture of Jackson shows him not cyanotic at all. He looks very pink. That brings up the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. This is getting interesting. I understand that Janet Reno was seen leaving the house that morning.

The doctor was only following Michael's orders, I'm sure. Look at the plastic surgeons, they followed Michael's rules as well. Spoiled celebrity meets his demise.

Guess that doctor better run if it's true that he shot up Michael with Demerol. Why didn't he have the anti-dote? Looks like doc might be guilty of murder.

Kind of strange that a doctor just happened to be "RIGHT THERE" when Jackson died, but yet his life could not be saved.... Also, why did he need a "live-in" doctor anyway since he was deemed to be in good health according to the physical he had to test his health-worthiness for the concert tour ?? Only people who are "very sick" need a live-in doctor, or they get put in the hospital.... there is some "recklessness" SOMEWHERE in SOME FORM here..!!! Period....

That doctor must have had Narcan available at the home. Did he administer it to Mr. Jackson when he went into respiratory arrest? This is beginning to look very fishy. Who is the doctor? Who is it? What kind of doctor? Where did he go to school? Which state was he lisenced in?

An overdose of Morphine is easily reversed with Narcan. I can't believe that the doctor did not have some Narcan handy at the home. It is hard to believe that he would have been giving Mr. Jackson large doses of pain killers without having Narcan availalable as a rescue medication. This is all beginning to look very fishy. I understand that Janet Reno was seen rushing out of the home that morning.

This is unbelievable, first off I'm crushed and hurt that Michael is gone. But, I'm beginning, to believe this Doctor could've made what is obvious the mistake of his life, if he shot Michael up with to much Demerol or a contaminated batch that he wasn't aware of. Medicines can go bad an sour to. I'm still shaken by this, Michael was a larger than life figure, who did it his way regardless of whatever. I hope they find this guy, if that turns out to be what happened that he gave him to much I doubt if he'll ever surface on this planet again.
Un freakin belieivable

Happy Trails, Michael you were "the baddest of the bad"
