Gibbs Praises Boss' Speech

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs had plenty of praise for his boss immediately following President Obama's first address to a joint session of Congress.

"I think it was a real command preformance," Gibbs said on CBSNews.com's presidential webcast.

Watch the interview here:

Anchor Katie Couric asked Gibbs to respond to Sen. John McCain's assertion that the president's speech was short on details.

"Not everything was in this speech," Gibbs said. He argued that the president laid out not only the challenges the country faces economically but also the "path forward."

Couric posed a question submitted via Twitter asking why the markets did not reflect the faith polls suggest that Americans have in the president.

"The market is going to fluctuate on any given day because of a lot of varying factors," Gibbs said. "We did not get here overnight and it is going to take a while to dig out of this whole."
