Day 22: Stimulus Passes Senate, But Obama's Still Selling

(CBS)
On his twenty-second day in office, President Obama saw Senate passage of the economic stimulus bill, a development he lauded at an appearance pushing the bill in Fort Myers, Florida.

But with the bill now facing a potentially contentious negotiation between the Senate and House before a final version can be sent to the president, Mr. Obama cautioned, "we've got a little more work to do over the next couple of days."

Below, watch Chip Reid's CBS Evening News report on the day's developments.

I find the Wall Street and world market reaction to the bank bailout plan actually refreshing. I would be more concerned about those individuals who helped get us into this mess being happy than them being "concerned" about lack of plan detail. I just think the reaction is simply more of a realization that "the party is over" than anything else. I think the part of the plan that caused the negative reaction is the "stress test" portion which will take the lid off of the full scope of our crisis. It will also show how many years that bad investment debt has really been shoved under the rug.
