6 countries have iPhone today -- goal is 12 countries for 3G, and 25 countries over next several months. Many new countries on the way. "It's A Small World" being played while countless new countries are shown on map. Canada, Australia, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, etc. 70 in total.

Now showing side-by-side comparison of EDGE network versus 3G speed in video demo. 3G takes 21 seconds to load NatGeo page; EDGE takes 59 seconds. WiFi only slightly faster at 17 seconds. Showed a couple other phones like Treo to compare, too. Battery life: standby 300 hours. 10 hours 2G talk time. 3G talk time 5 hours. Browsing 5-6 hours. Video 7 hours. Audio 24 hours. BUILT-IN GPS.

Jobs back on stage. Now talking about iPhone itself. Beyond software. Discussing nearly one-year anniversary. Users report high customer satisfaction. Mobile browsing and e-mail more popular with iPhone compared to normal cell phones. People using many features. Apparently sold 6 million iPhones. 3G network confirmed. Business support. Third party applications. Selling in other countries. More affordable. These are some challenges.

"MobileMe" will cost $99 and is meant to unite all devices, e-mails and machines into the iPhone. Replaces .mac.

"Mobile Me" has Web home: me.com. Web-based apps look very intuitive and easy. Able to view attachments, drag messages around, tailor settings, customize images, etc. If you get an e-mail on iPhone with push technology, alert comes up and able to click on it for more info via Google Maps. If you make changes in calendar on computer it will update automatically on iPhone. Sending photos seamless across devices.

"MobileMe" being unveiled. It's "Exchange for the rest of us." Mobile e-mail, calendar, etc. Very similar to what people can do now with a BlackBerry. Everything you do with e-mail, contacts, calendar events are integrated with iPhone, PC or Mac. Jobs not on stage -- guest speaker again.

Apple will offer businesses chance to develop programs or applications just for the iPhones within its company network. So customized apps for certain companies and employees to use.

Jobs talking new features. iPhone 2.0 software update available in early July. $9.95 for iPod Touch owners. App store button will be added to every iPhone. Will tell you when there's an update to any program you've previously downloaded.

Contact search, iWork document search, Keynote added. (Jobs back on stage now.) Easier to save photos to iPhone. Parental controls. Scientific calculator if you turn iPhone to landscape mode. (Round of applause.) Language support. Can switch between different languages on iPhone on the fly.

Push Notification Service. So if you get an instant message query or an alert from eBay, it appears on your screen without the iPhone remaining connected to the program in the background and draining battery life or impeding performance. Available for all developers.

Digital Legends is last application demo. Wow. Impressive mobile game with 3-D characters and environment. "Krull" (I think that's the name of the game) is expected in September.

Applications for medical students/professionals to do things like map out human body on iPhone and see PET scan images on the go.

Pangea Software -- physics-style puzzle game, and a racing game that uses the iPhone as the steering wheel. Both $9.99 when iPhone Apps Store launches. From Moo-Cow Music: musical instruments on iPhone. Piano, drum kit, bassist, and 12-bar blues instrument (!!). All via an application called "Band" -- can be recorded and shared. Big crowd reaction. By the way these are all guests onstage. Jobs hasn't spoken since the beginning. Now Major League Baseball showing mobile app with video highlights available on iPhone right after it happens in the game.

Associated Press is next up to talk applications. The Mobile News Network. Using location-based software, the content is updated and ogranized based on where you are. Also sorted by category, and able to stream video from AP that can be forwarded around. Plus you can upload user video to AP.

Other iPhone applications being unveiled: loopt, which allows people to see where and what their friends are doing through social networking, and TypePad, which incorporates phone, camera and Web features with mobile blogging.

Now SEGA is onstage demo'ing "Super Monkey Ball" for the iPhone. Pretty cool features to tilt the iPhone and incorporate the touchscreen with the game. Will be available for $9.99. eBay features about to be discussed. Auctions on the iPhone.

Application demo being shown now. How developers can create their own little programs for the iPhone, much of which is based on similar coding for OS X. One example was loading phone contacts and being able to sort by who is closest to you via location-based software. In other words, you can see how close your contacts are to you anytime.

Talking now about people wanting Microsoft Exchange: push mail, push calendar, and looking up addresses. Built-in with iPhone 2.0 software. Many folks have wanted Microsoft e-mail included. Apparently 35 percent of Fortune 500 have participated in a beta program for it. Plus several universities.

Steve Jobs has just taken the stage in usual black turtle neck shirt and jeans. 5200 attendees here. Talks about division of Apple: Mac, Music, and iPhone. Next version of OS X called "Snow Leopard." New software development kit for iPhone discussed.

Seated in Moscone Center in San Francisco with several thousand other analysts, developers and media. Nearly got hit by a camera as they let the crowd into the auditorium. Typical Apple frenzy is in full force here. Lots of rumors about features on iPhone 2.0 and mainly when it'll be released...heard today, next week and June 23 so far.
