'Jumper' And Super Tuesday Bloggers

Quick entry today -- we're moving ahead with a story for the Evening News with Katie Couric that looks at the science behind the new movie "Jumper," starring Hayden Christensen. What sci-fi fan hasn't dreamed of one day living in a world where "Beam me up, Scotty!" was a reality? Naturally, Hollywood expands on the idea and takes some (actually, a lot) of dramatic license but, hey, so what. We all know human teleportation is not going to happen any time soon (if ever), as much as we could all imagine a good time to use it in our lives. You know what I'm talking about. But photons -- well, that's a different story.

OK, so there's the whole complex matter of transporting energy and matter over space and distance but that won't stop us from looking into how science is tackling this challenge and what lies ahead for researchers. I'll let you know when the story is slated to air.

On to politics -- as part of next week's live Super Tuesday coverage on CBS News I'm hoping to find some bloggers and online enthusiasts who could sit with me in an informal setting somewhere. Could be anywhere in the country. I'm still working out a plan with some folks here but any input is appreciated. Any gatherings happening? Let me know by commenting here.

Finally, this pesky satellite just won't fade away. Titanium umbrella anyone? My panic button is still tucked away for now.
