Katie Couric's Notebook: The Kids
The men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan have made enormous sacrifices -- and so have their families. About 155,000 kids have at least one parent deployed in the military right now.
That's a lot of big sacrifices by our country's smallest citizens. Watch the video for more.

Kids on the home front are often the most fragile, innocent, and vulnerable victims of war, and they often carry the painful memories of the separations, sacrifices, and losses of their close family members with them throughout their lives.
Every effort should be made to help children whose parent goes to war, including group programs and activities, where kids with similar situations can talk and express their common feelings together and not feel alone, and where they can also get extra individual support as needed.
These children, who are often the youngest victims of war, certainly need and deserve lots of extra care and attention from all of us.
