iPod Alternatives

(AP Photo/Microsoft)
I am as bothered by the market domination of the iPods as I am by Microsoft's Windows. And I find it almost amusing that people will rush out and buy ipods because of the brand name and marketing.

As it turns out there are a lot of good digital media players other than Apple's iPod.

The SanDisk Sansa Connect is one.

And now Microsoft's new improved Zune. Check out my review of the latest Zune model.

"...they are the best deal going..." Now your saying that people don''t buy ipods because of anti-apple sentiment but what you''re saying sounds a lot more like obsessive loyalty to a company that consistently overcharges for their products so that they can have fancy ad campaigns as opposed to making the product cheaper and letting the consumer decide which item is actually the better mp3 player. It sounds more like you have pro-apple sentiments which make you think apple is the best company out there.

I wasn''t saying there is anything wrong with buying and iPod. They''re fine music players. I''m just saying it might pay to shop around and not just buy something because it''s popular or well marketed.

....And I find it almost amusing that people will rush out and buy ipods because of the brand name and marketing." No, they buy them in a considered manner because if you look at the whole package, the player, its interface, the iTunes store, the exceptional support offered by the Apple stores, they are the best deal going, at least for most buyers. I would say rather that those who don''t buy iPods are motivated purely by anti-Apple sentiment and not looking at the market clearly - well, not necessarily, but the comment makes about as much sense as your bashing of people who purchase iPods because of their well-deserved place in the market.
